My love affair with photography began about 25 years ago while taking a painting class at a local college. During a break, I wandered into the photography lab down the hall, and what I witnessed there would forever change my artistic focus. In the darkroom, I happened upon a peak photographic moment. Someone had slipped a sheet of paper into the developer tray and I experienced, for the very first time, the emergence of a black-and-white silver-gelatin image. I was transfixed. It was, in fact, life transforming and, to that extent, I have never looked back. The joyful anticipation I experience in viewing my landscape, abstract, architectural, and floral images emerge in developer is rivaled only by the wonderment of first discovering what I choose to refer to as the "perfect image." To this day, many years later, I will still stop dead in my tracks when I happen upon that eureka moment. It could be 40 feet down in a slot canyon in Utah or just walking along a Manhattan street. I know it when I see it; it is my own personal vision, and it defines me.
